And the colors are…

After hours and hours and hours and hours of Just Say Yes to the Dress and Bridesmaids, we’ve decided that our wedding colors will be TAN & Lavender!

We’re thinking the three bridesmaids (Cody’s side) and three groomsmen (Richard’s side) will be wearing tan with perhaps lavender accents (shoes, belt, tie, etc… not strict).

The above dress was found on Etsy at Scissors & Honey (click link for sale site)

The above suit is a Brooks Brothers Tan Linen suit.

For Cody and I, we’re thinking white OR dark brown linen with lavender accents.

The Name Game

We’ve had several discussions recent about our last names.  Will one of us take the other’s name?  Will we hyphenate?

How do folks make these decisions in a same sex relationship? I know it’s not a LOT different from a hetero relationship, but at least there IF a name changes it would be the woman’s name.  The only decision is only whether she/they hyphenate or if they both keep their unmarried names.

Eeeesh.

The Date is SET

Here we have it…  June 29, 2013

Well folks, we’ve set the date!  Guess that means the wheels of the wedding are in motion!

It was quite difficult for us to select the date actually.  As many people experience it’s not easy to balance out the ideas of time of year, weather likelihood, time of the month for work, etc.  Then when you add on the fact that Cody & I live in Western Washington, some of Cody’s family lives in Oregon and all of my family lives in Maine, it’s a logistics nightmare.

But for me, this date is very important… and has been my whole life!  It’s my mom & dad’s anniversary… and my sister’s (Brenda) anniversary with her husband (George)… and my sister’s second son’s birthday (a/k/a my nephew, Justin)!!

Weddings are a blessing, a ceremony in front of love ones meant to celebrate the union of, not just the loving couple, but the two families!  I couldn’t think of a better way to honor my parents then to also choose their wedding date.

June 29, 2013 will mark my parents’ 48th anniversary, and my sister’s 28th anniversary!  Maybe we should wait two years for my parents’ 50th and sister’s 30th… nahhhh!

Pop goes the question…

Cody, we’ve only known each other a short time and I already know there’s no one in the world I’d rather spend the rest of my life with.  You’re an amazing man, a dedicated son, a devoted brother, and a beautiful human being.

I told you shortly after I met you that it was love at first site.  My eyes were not mistaken. My heart followed suit.  You’re all I think about all day, every day.

Cody John Kramer…

With love and anticipation,

Richard
